SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface preparation involves the use of concrete grinders, shot blasters, and scarifiers in order roughen up or prepare the existing substrate to receive one of our self-leveling cements. This service is one of the most important and core services we offer (beside floor leveling) because if a substrate is inadequately prepared and not removed of all contaminants, you set yourself up for possibility of product failures down the road.

For example, this service played an important role for the Bridgewater Residences project which is highlighted in the first picture. Instead of the client having to hire more than one contractor to take on the surface preparation and floor leveling scope, we were able to package both scope of works together for them so that they would only have to deal with one person, making their life easier.

At Bridgewater Residences, our client wanted 250,000 square feet of concrete scarified before we commenced with the leveling scope. Our Lutec milling machine was utilized for areas that required milling of 2″ or more and our scarifers handled the rest of the area. The surface profile achieved in the first picture not only allowed for an increased bond to our cement, but removed all contaminants (i.e. dry wall mud, mastics etc.) pertaining to the substrate.
